Eat and eat and eat and eat!

So today Logan ate a TON. Maybe he's going through a growth spirt or something. Here's his day. Breastfed for 30+minutes, then ate a whole cup of yogurt, rice cereal, prunes and apples gerber mix and a small amount of a juice and water mix. Then he breastfed like crazy all day. Then came the big meal. For dinner, I started him off with these new rice cracker things called baby mum mum that my friend Melody introduced me to yesterday, he ate that up. Then he had three cubes of sweet potatoes that I had made, 2 cubes of green beans I made, 1/2 jar of baby food prunes and apple mix and finished off with some juice. Then we went to the ice cream shop and he ate a few good scoopfuls of that. Came home, ate for a while, then took a 3 oz bottle on top of that. HOLY COW LOGAN. You're going to be a monster if you keep eating like this.

Here are a few pictures of Logan when he first started eating. I'd like to be able to say he's not quite as messy now, but he still sometimes is this messy :).

Here are a few pictures of when Logan first got his Johnny Jumper. He just use to hang out in it and look around. As you can see when he first got it, he could barely see over the top. Now that he has both arms free and his legs are able to have a little bend in them so he can get a good bounce, he jumps and jumps and jumps. Today he twisted it up all the way till his toes barely touched the floor, then let it go and spun around. I thought he was going to get sick he spun so many times.

Here are a few more of Logan chillin' on the bed in his camo gear.

I bought him little camo colored crocks today to wear with these shorts, and because we have to get the child use to shoes or he's going to run around barefoot like his daddy his whole life. That's all for now. Hope your day is going well!

Sleep, Sleep

So I must do a blog on sleeping. Logan has been a horrible sleeper from day one. I have followed everything they have said, with bedtime routine, blah, blah, blah. He has gotten better at night time, he goes down around 730 or 8pm, but still continues to wake up once (at no specific time) eats, and goes back to sleep for the remainder of the night, USUALLY! Some nights, he wakes up twice or even three times which is a killer. I really don't mind when he wakes up just before I go to bed, because my hopes is that he's going to sleep longer if I feed him right before I go to sleep. He does not nap either unless he's latched on nursing. I have had a few times when I've snuck a pacifier in while we're taking a nap together and he's slept for a few extra minutes. He is never in a bad mood or anything though, he just only needs his few cat naps throughout the afternoon. Normally, i'd be really upset that he wasn't technically "sleeping through the night" but I have friends who are waking up to pump in the middle of the night, so I'd much rather be waking up to feed, rather than pump! Anyway, I am just worried that he is never going to sleep through the night. Advice is definately needed here if anyone has any suggestions. Here is a picture of my little angel sleeping on GOBA, in the tent, on the air matress. This only lasted for about 5 minutes until he realized no one was there with him. This was also at about 530 in the morning, after going to bed pretty late, so he was probably still pretty tired.

I dont want to hear from anyone telling me babies aren't suppose to sleep on air matresses. ya ya, I know...... But I was very careful and we had a bed for him but it got down into the 30's this night, so he had no choice but to sleep with me for warmth sake. Sorry all you "no co-sleeping" people. The best he ever slept was on GOBA.

Swinging at the Park!

Logan had his first ride in a swing today. He loved every second of it. He did really well too. Here are a few pictures of him. He looks like a little white trash baby with no socks or sleeves :)

And here is the video of him on the swing. Not much but something to post for the day. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did! Then after swinging, we went for a walk around sunny lake, and Logan always really enjoys that. It's so nice and relaxing :)

Here are a few of Logans professional pictures from 3 mo old. Enjoy!

Here are a few pictures of Logan and his cousin Lily who is 3 mo younger than him. Logan just wants to grab her in the face and she's not big enough to swat back at him :) This was for Aunt Loretta's birthday celebration.

GOBA

So this summer has been a busy one so far. We started the summer in June out by going on our yearly bike trip called GOBA (great ohio bicycle adventure). Since training with the baby proved to be difficult and neither of us had been on our bikes since last GOBA, we decided to each ride half, since someone had to be with the baby. It didn't totally work out that way because Mark hurt his knee, but I rode 3-4 days till lunch and that was the perfect amount. Camping with Logan was very pleasant. He did wonderful. Everyone in our little mini group was very tolerant and even helped us out with Logan. Here are a few other things we did on that trip.
As you can tell from the next picture, he didn't care too much about it!
Here is our Family picture from the boat. It was a nice calm boat ride down part of the old ohio canal systems
Please excuse my crazy pants, it's a very laid back trip :)

Reading to Logan

So they say you're supposed to read to your kids from day one, and I have made every effort to do so. Maybe not gotten every day, but whenever we have some downtime, I try to read to Logan. At first, he didn't even care about the books and would even sleep at times through them. Then he started to show at least a touch of an interest. Now all he wants to do is eat the books. The librarian that came to our mother's group said that board books are designed for that, but I dont know. It also makes me not want to get any books from the library until he learns to keep them out of his mouth. But for now, I just read and read and read, and sing and sing and sing, and he probably thinks I'm crazy, but someday my little dude is going to turn into a reader and enjoy story time :)

Initial Blog

Hi everyone, I have decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on our lives. Just to introduce ourselves, we are the Vojtko family. My husband Mark, Me (Melisa), And my 6 mo old son Logan.
Rather than update you on our past lives, I'm just going to start fresh. So here it goes.
Yesterday Logan went for his 6 mo visit. He did so well. He is 27 and 3/4 in and weighs 19lbs 3.9oz. Holy cow right? He's so big. I can't believe that six months has traveled by so fast. He had to get 3 shots yesterday and he didn't even cry. That's mamma's boy. Being tough for the both of us. Being a peds ER nurse you'd think I'd do better with my son getting shots and stuff since I give them on a regular basis, but it's much different when it's your little one lying there :) Anyway, doctor is happy with how everything is going. He told me I should be feeding him solids 3 x / day. Since I'm still nursing I have to nurse, then feed. What a pain. So I tried today. He was so full after the first feeding, I didn't do the second solid food feeding and he did just fine. I think we're going to be doing just two solid feedings at this point.
After his shots, we went to mom's support group, then to great-grandma's and then came home. He was so pleasant, but I could tell was starting to get tired. So then we came home, he went to bed around 9pm and didn't wake up until 7. Works for me. He usually still wakes up once in the middle of the night to eat.
Tonight we put him to bed closer to 9 again, hopefully he sleeps the same again. I think we may have been putting him to bed a little early. We'll see.
Anyway, that's all for now. I will do my best to keep this thing updated.
